How to Make Perfect Indian Milk Tea

A dependable milk tea comes from measuring the tea, controlling extraction and adding milk without boiling the cup for too long.

Begin with a repeatable ratio

For one medium cup, start with 150 ml water, 80–100 ml milk and about 2–2.5 g CTC tea. Boil the water, add tea for 60–90 seconds, add milk and bring it to one gentle rise before straining.

Control extraction

If the cup is weak, extend the water brew by 15–30 seconds before adding more leaf. If it is dark but harsh, shorten the time. Long boiling can flatten aroma and intensify astringency.

Adjust one thing

Milk softens briskness but can hide aroma. Keep the same cup and spoon while changing only tea quantity, time or milk ratio. Write down the combination that suits your household.

Questions readers also ask

Should tea be boiled in milk?

Extract CTC in water first, then add milk and bring it to a gentle rise.

How much tea per cup?

Start near 2–2.5 g for a medium milk tea and adjust gradually.
